Product Details

The merinos wool in this kit is medium fine quality, which is a good compromise between softness and ease of spinning.

If you want to obtain a homogeneous blend, you can mix the colours by brushing them repeatedly, each time shifting the carders a bit to the right or left. You go on until the blend is as even as you desire.

For a more lively mix, you alternate bigger chunks of different colour and you only pass the carders a few times.

If you are going for a tweedy look, you first spin a single using only the coloured fibers, then you cut that thread into little bits. You put only the white wool onto your carders and sprinkle the coloured snippets onto the fibers. Then you only card one or two times.

When the carding process is finished, you take off the fibers either simply as they are, or you roll them off, creating a rolag.

The drop spindle is perfectly suited to spin the amount of fiber you take off the carders in one go.
