shearing

Here you'll find tools for manual shearing of small herds of sheep.

Annual shearing is a must for sheep, all races confound! After the winter, the wool becomes heavy, is sometimes dirty and gives shelter to all kinds of parasites. Not shearing your sheep over longer periods is animal abuse!

Shearing a sheep manually is a long and very physical activity, especially for your back. Also, you have to know how to catch and immobilise a sheep and it's basic anatomy, in order to avoid hurting the animal.

Especially in the beginning, you may spend a lot of time shearing a single sheep. Even when you have gotten used to it, you might still spend 20 to 45 minutes per animal, depending on the sheep's race.

You should always have a disinfectant with you, in case you accidentally cut the sheep.
